SPOILERS TO BACKSTORIES BELOW
The Guitar: This genius singer/songwriter partnered Art Garfunkel in one of the most successful duos of all time, and if you haven’t got him yet I’m afraid this book is not for you.
Past Time: Rosa kept her seat to make a stand for justice, and we all owe her a debt.
The Big Attraction: Twisted British ‘moors murderers’ Myra and Ian preyed on children in the sixties.
Alien: This musician, artist and cultural trailblazer played guitar with the spiders from Mars, and sadly took his final bow(ie) too soon, in 2016.
The Blank Face: Angry Austrian, Adolf, was a virulent racist with a bristly little moustache. He turned out to be one of the most evil men in history, but he was once just a vulnerable human being like the rest of us. Who knows what might have happened if his father had let him study art?
Like Magic: Sadly, there’s no such thing as magic, and even after changing her name to Marylin and becoming the no. 1 sexual icon of the twentieth century, Norma-Jean was always just a lost little girl longing for love.
Wicked Child: This Siggy did not play guitar, but his search for understanding led him to become the ‘father of psychology’.
All Over Now: One of the most flamboyant personalities of the 80’s. The mercurial Queen of rock, you might say?
Voiceless Child: An autistic hero and saviour of humanity, this silent girl found her voice and opened our eyes.
A Kingdom Shared: A bodacious British Queen who fought the Romans at the height of their power, and for a time at least, she won.
Preserved in Amber: To be Frank, his name is Otto, and his daughter is another teenage girl who will never be forgotten.
Tonight’s the Night: Fred and Rose were the second couple of British murderers in this collection, something like an even more twisted version of Myra and Ian.
Banjo Boy: Things picked up for this kid when, at just seventeen, (if you know what I mean), he teamed up with Paul, George and Ringo.
Jive Talkin: ‘I am the greatest’, or so he said. And who would argue with this jive talkin winner of the thriller in Manilla? Not me.
